Overview

Bearing (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the getbearing.co website and the Bearing platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. Passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text.

Early Access Requests

When you request early access, we collect your email address through our waitlist form. This is used solely to contact you about access to Bearing.

Prospect and Client Data

Franchise brokers using Bearing may enter prospect information including names, contact details, financial profiles, and franchise preferences. This data is entered by the broker and stored securely to power matching and qualification features.

AI-Processed Data

Bearing uses AI to qualify candidates, score franchise-candidate fit, and generate recommendations. Data sent to our AI providers is used solely to deliver these features and is not used to train AI models.

FDD Documents

When you upload a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD), we store the PDF securely and extract financial and operational data using AI. Extracted data (franchise fees, investment ranges, royalty rates, unit counts) is applied to the corresponding brand record in our shared catalog. FDD-extracted data and uploaded documents are accessible to all authenticated users on the platform, as FDDs are public disclosure documents.

Outreach and Email Content

When you use outreach features, we process prospect contact information and AI-generated message content to send emails on your behalf via Resend. No outreach email is sent without your explicit approval.

Usage and Session Data

We collect usage analytics to improve the platform, including page views, session duration, feature usage, and pipeline activity. This data is tied to your broker account and stored in our database. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.

Payment Information

Subscription billing is handled by LemonSqueezy, our merchant of record. We store your LemonSqueezy customer ID and subscription status but do not store your payment card details. See LemonSqueezy's Privacy Policy for details on payment data handling.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides encryption at rest and in transit. We implement row-level security policies to ensure brokers can only access their own data.
